La Casita Foundation Workshop: Cascade Bouquet

As we’ve mentioned in the past, we’ve teamed up with La Casita Foundation, a local organization run by women for women in need. They provide meals, weekly food supplies and also host workshops to teach these women different skills. We sponsor their floral workshop and this semester we are focusing on all things weddings.

During our second workshop, we taught the women how to do cascading bouquets. It was a very engaging class and the final product was so beautiful we had to share!

We used:

  • Pink, White and Purple Roses (Taiga, Glacier, Vendela, Queen Berry and Cool Water)
  • Waxflower: Pink & Purple
  • White Callas
  •  Lavender Spray Roses
  • Italian Ruscus

You’ll need a plastic bouquet holder like this one

Here are the steps:

1. Choose the bouquet holder
2. Soak the holder in water.
3. Secure the holder using a base or a stand for bouquet.  In class we used the back of a chair.
4. Condition the flower.  Clean the stems, take out the leaves and thorns.
6. Choose the foliage.
7. The foliage was used to shape the bouquet.
8. Start placing the flowers. The callas, because they’re so delicate were placed first.  The waxflower and the roses came next and finally, we added the spray roses creating a delicate and natural pattern.
